Question

Haven't had a good start with my nw-3000s.

First I fully charged the battery of my player. Then offcourse i wanted to use my player so i connected it with my computer. But the only thing i see is a welcome message and then i get a spinning cd. While thats on te screen i can't do anything (i tried to push all buttons, first just one time, later on i tried pushing every button for a few seconds). After about 15 seconds the player shuts down.

I tried this about 500 times now, but still no result. Am I doing something wrong? I already installed connect, and that is working properly. I also resetted my player for several times now. I can't think of anything to do anymore. Pretty fucked up situation because i want to listen to my music! Please Help! :ol_sad:

I would have guessed that resetting it would have fixed the problem. But apparently that is not the case here.

You have to use the connect player to transfer the music onto the player, connecting it to the computer by itself won't do you much good.

Open the connect player, then connect the player to the pc, one connect recongizes that you have the player plugged in, press the small button in the top right hand corner that looks like a small player. This will open the transfer window, then add files from the library by simple drag and drop and then once the files have been transferred over and it doesn't say:

Do not disconnect

at the bottom of the library, then you can disconnect the player and the files should be on there.

You could also try initialising (formatting the hard drive) through the Connect player, that's if you can of course. Something could have corrupted on there, possibly during transport.

You could also try using Sonicstage 3.3, I have doubts that it would work but it's probably worth a try.

You could also try updating the firmware on the unit, just in case that's corrupt.

There is no need to have any software running when you connect the player to the PC. Check your PC specifications to see if they are equal to or greater than the player's recommended specifications.

Something that you have more than obviously tried is turning on the player without it being connected to the mains supply or PC, but it's best to double check as you have just said that you have connected it and tried turning it on.

Once connected to the PC you should get the "Connecting" message and the two arrows spinning round, whilst this is being shown you cannot control the player, however, if plugged into the mains and the same arrows apper with "Charging" then pressing the back button will return you to the main menu of the player so try that.

If those fail, and ofcourse initializing and resetting using the reset button on the bottom of the player fail, head to www.sony.co.uk, click the link for the player until you see the links under a picture of the player. I can't remember exactly what the link is called but something like troubleshooting, I'm sure you'll find it! Keep following Sony's links until you find the .pdf manuals, there should be a .pdf of the manual supplied with the player and another larger troubleshooting one. Hopefully that should help if all else fails, but if not I can only suggest going back to where you got it and getting a replacement and if you're still within the returns policy you should get a brand new one.

Hope this helps.
