So, if your preamp of choice has one of these as an output then you will be able to use it with an MD.

mdmania
I used to own a MZ-M10 which is almost similar to M100 and it does only analog transfer from Hi-MD PCM recorded material only to Mac.I am sure of it because I tried digital and couldn't transfer it. So I took the damn thing back. I am still reconsidering Hi-MD but I am waiting for Sony to do any further support on this format. If 3rd gen come up, then I may consider this format again...until then...

But if you need digital copies of digital recordings faster than real-time (I thought you could record the audio digitally while playing the MD from the computer - Windows only, but I'm not familiar with it nor the Mac software for the M100) then you'll probably have to wait for a deck to arrive (if ever), or just go with something else. raintheory
You can transfer optical recordings to PC just fine with all HiMD recorders. However the built-in WAV converter for SonicStage will not convert the optically recorded files. A workaround is to use MarC's HiMdRenderer. That is only for PC though... Not sure if and when a MAC utility will come around that can do the same.
