greenmachine
himd is the way to go for uploadable realtime recordings and extended recording time and/or -quality. don't be mislead by netmd's usb port, they're strictly downloaders only. nh700 or nhf800 are excellent recorders and should be affordable by now. KrazyIvan
If you are going to want to upload your recordings via USB, none of those recorders are going to help you out. The 510 does not have a mic input. The R70 does but cannot record in anything but SP mode (80 minutes max). I can't remember if the N707 has a mic input but I think it does. Still, it cannot upload recording to a PC. You would need a Hi-MD unit to upload. Something like an NH900/NHF800/RH10/RH910. There are more but I cannot remember the other models with both a mic input and Hi-MD capabilities.
A440
At http://www.minidisc.org click the Browser tab near the top to see all the models.Look at Hi-MD units. Those are the ones that record in CD-quality PCM and upload digitally to your computer. Units with D in the model number do not record via mic. The best bargain is the MZ-NH700, a 2004 model. http://www.minidisco.com/portables.htmlhttp://www.minidisc-canada.com/shopdisplay...iniDisc+Players
bobt
Your best bet is to look for a HiMD with mic, minidisc Canada and minidisco have some of the Australian packages, as well find fraesus in the classified section, prices are good and you can upload. The 707 does have a mic input, and does a good job of recording, but the record head wiring has problems after a while. Go for a NH800 or 900 and you will be very happy.Good luck,Bob
