MZ-R900 adding new tracks automatically?

Hey all. I just got a R900 recently, mostly to record my band's practices and concerts. When I hit record and let it roll, it starts a new track number every few seconds when we're not playing, but will usually record a single track while we play. After each practice, I wind up with about 65 tracks of silence and only a few of actual music. BTW, I'm using a 9V battery box in the line-in.

I know the unit has Auto Time Stamp but I thought that was for 5 or 10 minute intervals.

Any ideas? Thanks!

The user-defined auto track marking I think only applies to mic-in recordings.

From my experience even with that option off, anything recorded thru line-in or optical adds a track whenever the level drops for a few seconds.

I'd like to know if theres a way around this too actually... We record sometimes using S/PDIF optical and it does the same thing when we stop playing even for just a few seconds.

I would be somewhat hesitant to do the editing on the unit itself. There have been a few occasions where I have edited tracks (combined/deleted/etc) on my RH10 and it completely trashed the disc with no warning. Ended with the unit displaying "Cannot Record or Play" and me ready to throw the unit at the wall. SonicStage wouldn't read anything on the disc either. I know there was a thread awhile ago addressing this problem, as other members had similar things happen.

My suggestion would be to upload all the tracks to SonicStage and then do your editing on the PC. Just in case.
