I have a Sony Hi-MD MZ-RH 10 and work on a MAC ( Powerbook G4 )

the Sonycstage software is only avalaible on PC and I tried the Hi-MD WAV Importer for Mac but even when recording in the PCM mode I cann't import the files : the disk is reconnized by the Mac and by Hi-MD WAV Importer and the different tracks appear in the window of Hi-MD WAV Importer but all are grayed even those recorded in PCM mode and no one can be selected ...

Do you understand the problem an do you know a solution ? Is there any other sofware avalaible for MAC. The only solution I have found is to read the tracks and imports in analogic way ... :(

Hi and welcome to MDCF,

yes, unfortunately we all know the problem...even Sony does (that's why they never mentioned mac in there system requirements but only windows). And a lot of ppl were frustrated by this because they had only noticed after their purchase... Sony also noticed this ... that's why they came up with two mac-compatible models (MZ-M10 & MZ-M100) for which the mac uploader was meant... but of course this means another purchase (and you can't even blame them in the end as they did never pretend the previous models were mac compatible)

I'm very sorry, but for you the only solutions are:

- transfering in realtime (analogue)

- buying an M (mac-compatible) model

- get Virtual PC and a lot of spare time as it will work VERY slowly

a good way that i sometime use, is to plug the MD into my mac and then record it using a program like Sound Studio 3.0 which is quite a good recording program, however directly recording might not be that much quicker then using Sonic Stage in VPC
