QuickHX
Trust someone is still around these old unit areas...I picked up a MZ-R700, with the 'digital PCLink' gitziod, USB + optical cable, and a MDS-JE530 deck for the house.So- I synched / recorded a bunch of cuts off the XP Pro 'puter's HD (using Windows Media Player- it didn't recognize the device, but it DID play back on the R700, and sounded fine. Files were in MP3 format; seem pretty normal- but the were copied off the iPod...So, I plug the disc into the deck and play- the timer moves, track #'s display, but no sound. Where am I going wrong- tips / hints?Thanks!-Tom, QuickHX
MDX-400
I'm thinking this one might be simple...What recording mode are you in on the R700? Are you getting the track titles showing as "LP ..." on the JE530? The MDS-JE530 is not MDLP capable--you have to record in SP Stereo or Mono (but you probably do not want mono, lol) to get the discs to play on the JE530. If you record on the R700 in LP2 or LP4 those discs will not play on the JE530--you'll just get silence.
jaylen
That's exactly what happened to me. I inherited a bunch of MDs from a classmate who left the format and I was brand new with the format (having only an N505 at the time). She told me they were recorded from mp3 in SP. Tried them out in my brand new, SP-only deck and silence. Yup, it even looked like it was playing the discs because the timer was moving. I freaked a little because I thought my deck was broken (I got it as a gift). I ended up putting the discs in my N505 and sure enough, they were all in LP2. The good thing is it wasn't my deck or speakers. But, I was sure baffled for a while - I had just started using the MD format and had no idea about the SP/LP2/LP4 thing. Of course, I'm a little wiser about it now due to this experience. Hopefully, MDX pinpointed your problem.
QuickHX
Thanks to you and jaylen-Yes, LP2, but now, I'm getting the dreaded 'Blank Disc' after recording. Blah and pishaw... looks like maybe I got a bum unit. It was cheap, bundled with the JE530, so I guess I'll eat it.First disappointing CraigsList deal. jaylen
Yes, LP2, but now, I'm getting the dreaded 'Blank Disc' after recording. Aw, that stinks. Hopefully, your R700 still functions as a player so that you have a snazzy looking portable to play your deck-recorded music. I used my N1 for a little while as a player-only (got that "BLANK DISC" whenever I tried to record with it). Be careful though. When my N1 started acting up, it began to not only erase discs and give me the blank-disc (when I made final attempts to record with it), but it rendered a few of those discs unusable and I couldn't record onto them anymore when using other fully-functioning recorders. But, those were the cheapy Memorex discs.Glad your deck works though!
