Question

hello,

so it seems that the SONY HDD-players are all equipped with the 1.8" HD by Toshiba (as some members of this forum are saying)

officially Toshiba is saying on their internet side, that their HDD will be able to take a heat of 65 - 70 degrees celsius (non operating mode)?

so does this means, that if i ever leave my players (even for a short time, 1 or hours) during summer inside a car, in which the temperature could easily be higher than this limit, could be fatal to its HDD?

Or does this means if the HDD is exposed to such a enviroment regularly for a long time?

by the way, when i was buying my AW-3000 here in switzerland, they first wanted to give me a piece which was laying inside a display, under a (hot) lamp, it was feeling really warm to hold it in my hand, so i refused to take this piece and insisted in having in one still originally packed from their storage. even though the one from the display was working fine.

who have experience and/or knowledge?

greetings steve

It will only affect your player if you leave your player frequently or regularly inside the car for long time in summers ..Leaving the player inside the car during summers once or twice is not going to damage it ..

As I`m Living In India (New Delhi ) SO IN summers the temperature is always souring high (varies from 38 - 44(degrees centi)). I have seen that LCD (screen ) of the player does fade after keeping the player(It becomes hard to see the characters on the screen ) for long time inside the car but it returns to normal as soon as the temp of the player comes back to normal .

And my NW-HD5 is still working fine..Also I don`t see temp. going that high in Switzerland in Summers .

You can look HD3 with Toshiba Hard Disk Here

Also using player At high Temp definately affects your players battery life or Using the player at high temp. Shortens the battery life.It is recommended to use the player at (5-35)deg centigrade
