Hi to all, this is my first message, since i'm new minidisc owner. I found this model and before purchase it, i searched on the web some information about it, and i understood that it was possible to download and read mp3's file, in the HI-md format? Is it true? I make this operation both with a 80 minutes MD and an Hi-md, but after copying from PC to MD, on the display appears NO TRACKS.

There's something i could do to solve this problem?

This is my model (http://tinyurl.com/ntghd) between the technical specificatione you can find MP3 compatible...

Thank in advance for your time..

greetings and regards.

Fabio

You need to download and install SonicStage (can be found in the d/l section here in the forums) in order to transfer your music from PC>HiMD. Currently no HiMD recorders have drag & drop functionality.

Also note that the NH600 is a 1st gen unit and thus will not play back mp3 files directly (2nd gen units such as the RH910 or RH10 can play back mp3, but still need to use Sony's SonicStage software to transfer to the unit).

The NH600 will however, using SonicStage, convert the mp3 files to Atrac3+ which is the compatible format for all 1st gen units. I assume this is what is called Mp3 compatibility, although in my mind it is a bit of misdirection.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the forums!

The NH600, as all 1st gen HiMD's is compatible with MP3 in the sense that the program you need to use for transfer of music to MD - SonicStage - will read MP3's and allow you to convert them (manually or automatically) to Atrac3 or atrac3+ the formats the HiMD understands.

the 2nd gen is really MP3 compatible as it can play MP3 without conversion

but no MD can play MP3 (or any other format) by using drag-n-drop transfers...

edit: raintheory beat me to it :P and welcome to MDCF from me as well!
