A1000 -- ATRAC playback don't stop

Rate this question

Question

It seems weird to me that playback don't stop when it reaches the end of album but instead repeats playing at the first track despite normal playback is selected. And, this is for ATRAC files only. For MP3 files, it stops.

Is this supposed to that way or is this a bug?

The firmware version is 2.01 which I believe is the latest version.

Ah hah, glad to see it's not just me getting bugged by this. I don't actually have an A1000 or even an A3000, but a HD5h... but I do have the same problem (and not just with ATRAC albums, but MP3 albums too.) The solution on the HD5h seems to be to turn the 'unit' function off then back on again after transferring tracks to the player (or connecting it to a PC at all, for that matter.) Anyway, give that a go and see if it works - it does for me!

FAO Ascariss:

The A1000 certainly has gapless playback using ATRAC (I wouldn't have bought or suffered it otherwise - gapless is important to me).

That said, there is no gapless playback when using CONNECT Player through the PC (why I use Sonicstage). But hey, with software as appalling (and that is being kind and restrained) as Connect, what do you expect.

Back to the topic - I, too, find that the A series plays an individual album, then stops. I have also noticed if you start playing the album from, say, track3 the player will play through the rest of the particular album and then play tracks 1 and 2. Strange. I would have preferred the player to continue onto the next album, like the HD3, but it's no big deal. Unlike Connect software, which is a VERY BIG deal (have I already mentioned I detest this shambolic excuse for software?).

In that case, does the player stop at track 2 then.

Now you mentioned, I now recall I didn't play the album continuously from track 1 but rather play the album somewhere in the middle and it certainly starts to play track 1.

But anyway this is no big deal to me and I just want to see if anyone encounter the same thing.

I know it was supposed to have gapless playback but I am not sure if it was straight out of the box, granted i didn't try it, but I recall someone mentioned it didn't have gapless yet.

All sony's have gapless playback on atrac files, this is the only reason why I bought the NW-A3000, but I still miss the superior on the fly playlist and equalizer from my Rio Karma.

Has anyone found a way to make it play one album after another for the same artist without resorting to playlists or having to manually select the next album?
