kwood759
I am looking for a device to record my piano lessons and then play them back for learning purposes. I have been looking at Sony mini disc player/recorders but it seems that they require that the input captured through a microphone be downloaded to a computer or stereo system and then played back through those devices. Is there a mini disc player/recorder that will record and play back? I want something similar to the old cassette tape player but with better sound quality. Thanks for any help you can give me. greenmachine
Any MD recoder will also be able to play back. The PC connectivity of the latest models (Hi-MD)is just a nice addition, not a limitation. What you need is a MD with mic input (preferrably a high/low input sensitivity switch for a better level control) and a microphone. By connecting headphones to the unit, you can listen to your recording immediately. If PC upload is not required, you can get a used pre Hi-MD device for a ridiculously low price via ebay. With a good mic, recording in SP mode will easily outperform most cassette recorder's quality.
