bobt
Hi There, Your best bet would be the RH1 or a little extra the M200 wihich is the RH1 plus mics, you could get by with pretty much any Hi-MD with a mic jack, but the RH1 is clearly the best.Good luck, and let us know what you choose, and how things work for you.Bob
A440
You may well be able to find the MZ-NH700, new and unopened, for half the price of the RH1 on Ebay. It will record through a mic, upload, etc. Mics seem to be expensive in Europe. You might contact greenmachine, who makes them, and see if he could assemble a mono mic for interviews or a stationary stereo mic. Look in post #20 for his current website. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14388
Mr_Bass_Man
You may well be able to find the MZ-NH700, new and unopened, for half the price of the RH1 on Ebay. It will record through a mic, upload, etc. Absolutely right. I picked up an NH700 for MUCH less than half the price of an RH1, and have used it for mic. recordings, and the results are impressive. There was (is) a bit of an issue with a high frequency tone in the background, but I figure that is more likely to be an issue with the "cheap and cheerful" microphone I use rather than with the MD itself. (BTW I wanted to record a thunderstorm here last week, but unfortunately the storm triggered off one of my neighbours' burglar alarm, so that would have somewhat spoiled the recording!!!! ) Edited July 8, 2006 by Mr_Bass_Man

greenmachine
You can use standard MDs, but capacity will be less than 1/3 of 1GB Hi-MDs. Might be an issue for PCM recording (<30 vs. >90 minutes).
