vergergc
Friends,Please help me understand something.... My PC is starting to have issues and won't be around much longer before completely dying -- it has about 3 years of collected music in SonicStage. Some is from my CD collection, other songs are not actually on a media outside of the harddrive of my aging PC. I understand My Backup Tool only allows restoring on the same PC it was backed up from.... So, how do I move all my SonicStage stuff from Computer A to Computer B (my next PC)?Thanks!Kent Edited July 15, 2006 by vergergc
cocomitch
I had that same situation a month or so ago. The easiest way I found was to buy an external hard drive and transfer all my sonicstage files on to it,then simply plug it in to my new computer. Before I did that, I had to use the Sonic stage file conversion tool, and uncheck the 'add copy protection' box. Of course the beauty of keeping all the files on an external drive(with all copy protection removed) is that it'll work on any computer. External hard drives are so cheap to buy nowadays that I feel it is a worthwhile extra expense when you are buying your new computer. vergergc
I bought a USB 160GB hard drive just to do this and then the Sony support people said the My Backup Tool files could only by used to retrieve info on the original PC it was backed up from..... Is it really as simple as that? I'll have to look for the "conversion tool" - is it in SS ver 3.1?Cheers!KentI had that same situation a month or so ago. I really have very little in Atrac format. But, if it will leave other files as they are and remove the DRM, then I guess I should give the "conversion tool" a try. It will be my first time using it.Cheers!Kent
