Jam
Hi there,I currently own a Sony MZ-N1 & a R909 MD recorder, however I have heard that the newer Sharp models have much better preamps and DACs, can anyone confirm this? Also which particular Sharp models (I was looking at maybe one of the NetMDs) would you record over the 2 I own for recording SFX (mostly low level recordings)?thanks
greenmachine
Sony's Hi-MD units have very nice adc/dac/preamp quality and offer many advantages over NetMD, such as upload, pcm recording and larger discs.
Jam
Thanks for your advice greenmachine but I don't really have the money to buy anything too recent like the Hi-MD recorders I was hoping to catch a non-Hi Sharp recorder on Ebay. Jam
I managed to buy a Sharp 190 for £10 off Ebay! hopefully I'll notice a difference in recording quality!I read somewhere that the 190 has a 24-bit DAC, just out of interest does anyone know what the Sony R909 DAC is?
