shea
Hi,I am trying to record some live mixes from my turntables onto my Sony MZ-R50. I checked out the online manual on this site, and I did get it record with the Mic input. I am going from a Stanton SMX-201 into my minidisc recorder. The first time I tried to record, it was almost completely silent the entire time. I was going through the regular output ports on the back of the mixer into the Mic port. No luck at all with that, not even mastering software could help me. So I tried recording out of the mixer's headphone port, and it sounded very tinny, harsh, and there was no bass. I'm not sure how to get a good recording, any suggestions? Thanks a ton.
fatmuttony
What speaker outputs does the player have? Most I've seen have RCA outputs. Get an RCA - mini cable and go into the line in of your MD recorder. Mic-in is for unamplified inputs. THe speaker output of your turntable player should be giving you a line-level signal, in which case, you need to go into the line in and not the mic in.Also, it goes without saying, that you need to switch recording level to MANUAL and then set the recording level such that the loudest passage of music you are trying to record peaks well within the two sets of dots on your MD recorder's recording level indicator.Hope this helps.
