Question

I keep hearing ppl talk about the problems regarding SonicStage. Is there a way to upload mp3s to NW-E507 without going through sonicstage. Like I heard sonicstage scan ur computer for mp3 files to make sure u didn't get the mp3 files illegally. I dont want that. I really like nw-507 but this sonicstage is throwing me off. I don't want the company to know what i am putting on my mp3 player :(

scanning and checking for illegal mp3s? How could a program even find that out? I seriously doubt SS could do that.

I've used Sonicstage with my minidisc and some files were let's say borderline "legal" and all transferred normally. Sony won't know what you are putting on the player, so no need to worry. Just use the program.

tenchi,

Who told you that ?

I have about 50 mp3 files which i borrowed from my friends (So you can say they all are illegal) & Also to tell you SonicStage doesn`t scan to check for illegal mp3 files but it scans to update the library(By default it is on but you can uncheck it ).

Also you can use Mp3 file manger ver2 with your E507.

thanks for the help. I read it on amazon.com.

edit: there's a new rerview on amazon.com. They say "ps - A word of advice... you can find tons of songs for FREE to download on www.myspace.com. However, they only last for about a week in the SonicStage software (for whatever reason)"

Does that mean all my mp3 files on my computer will only last 60 days on the mp3 player?

Mp3 files from this site must be containing "Playback restrictions".

There is usually ways around this, check to see if the songs have copyright on them, via the idtag,

When you mean they last a week? do you mean they will only play for a week?

don't know about that. I read it on a review. How do you check the idtag?

IN SonicStage

Go to the properties of the Song =>Then click on "rights info /Additional information"

You will see like this "Playback restrictions: None

No. of times played: 0times

No. of times transferred: 1times

Remaining transfer count: Unlimited

Remaining ATRAC CD transfer count: Unlimited

Remaining audio CD transfer count: Unlimited

Transfer destination: ATRAC Audio Device(F:)"

hey guys, i have just recieve my new e507. looks great. anyway i just want to make sure that e507 has 816mb. Is this number right?

You will not get the full 1gb memeory .As explained before that Sony player count 1mb=1000kb & Windows Explorer counts as =1000mb=>1024kb..

As some memory is used for the Table of contents.

ok thanks, Do you guys know how how many hours do we need to charge for a full charge. I accidently pull out the usb cable after connecting with the computer for around 1:30ish and it show full charge.

If your Player full shows full charge that means player has been fully charged .Also it depends on many factors such as room temp ,How much battery was depleted before charging .etc.MyE505 take about 1:30 min to charge fully with current set to 500mA..
