DirtMagnet
Hello MD gurus,I've searched for a post with this problem to no avail - please forgive me if this has been previously addressed.I recently upgraded to SS 4.0. I can't get tracks to transfer from MD? The MD tracks are clearly displayed on the right hand side, are selectable, playable, etc. When I try to transfer them SS says its loading files and preparing to transfer, but then the process just stops and the files have not been transferred.Appreciate any suggestionsCheers
eriktous
What unit are you using? It sounds like your trying to upload music from a NetMD unit, which isn't possible. Only HiMD units can do this, and then only with HiMD recordings (apart from the MZ-RH1, which can upload almost everything; new recordings, old recordings, pre-recorded discs). I am using Hi-MD... MZ-NH700. Just recently upgraded to SS 4.0. Never had transfer problems before apart from old SS deleting tracks occasionally. Have re-installed SS 4.0 twice but still getting the same problem. Recorded some new tracks on a new MD and get same problem. I can however transfer tracks from my library and back again so am v confused. Any further advice much appreciated
eriktous
Just to make sure, but are they Hi-MD recordings (PCM, HiSP, or HiLP)? Edited September 22, 2006 by eriktous
DirtMagnet
Just to make sure, but are they Hi-MD recordings (PCM, HiSP, or HiLP)?Yep, it says HiLP ATRAC3plus. From memory it was always PCM though? You'll have to forgive me, I'm a bit of a novice
raintheory
Approximately how long does SonicStage go before it stops? You could try a different USB port and see if that helps anything... You're not using a USB hub are you?EDIT: By the way, what are your system specs? Edited September 23, 2006 by raintheory

You're not using a USB hub are you?EDIT: By the way, what are your system specs? It goes for a couple of secs - when I hit the trasfer arrow the box in top right hand side flashes "transferring" then quickly changes to "loading" then the process finishes. It looks pretty much like a normal transfer process but much quicker and no tracks come across. I tried a different USB port, no difference. I'm not using a USB hub.My system specs:PC - HP Media Center PC m7088aPentium 4 Processor 550J 512MB/160GBATI Radeon X300SE Windows XP media centre edition Version 2002 service pack 2. raintheory
Check "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Packages" (and subfolders) to be sure that there are no copies of the tracks already there for some reason. How long are the tracks you are trying to transfer? Beginning to think this is an install problem?
raintheory
Could very well be a corrupted install somehow...I would go ahead and try a reinstall following the directions here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071 (so as to actually delete all traces) When reinstalling be sure you have everything closed durng the install, including anti-virus, etc.

The Low Volta
you should test whether there is a problem with the NH700 or with the installation... if you can install SS4.0 on another computer or even try your PC-setup with soleone elses HiMD
rill
I met the same problem as yours. files not transferring. It took me hours to solve it. This is what I did:1. uninstall sonicstage, reboot your PC.(This is necessary or else some folders can't be deleted.)2.Start "Windows Explorer" -----Select "Tools"-----Single-click "Folder Options"-----Select the "View" tab -----choose "show hidden files and folders.3.delete the following folders if you have in your PC.C:/programme files/sonicstage (the folder where you installed sonicstage.) C:/programme files/common file/sony shared C:/programme files/common file/sony C:/Documents and settings/all users/Application Data/Sony Corporation 4.click "Start"-----"run"-----type "regedit"-----press "ctrl+F" to search "sonic"-----right click to delete what you find.(delete all of them.)5.install sonicstage again. reboot your PC. Now, it's OK.It works on my PC. Whether it works on yours, let us know.

Whether it works on yours, let us know.Same thing happened to me, can't transfer songs back to PC (that came from PC) or live recordings made with a mic in the mic jack on PCM or LP2/4 settings, and I followed your procedure (although I had to search "sonicstage" in regedit cos I have Sonic Foundry programs too.) However, now I'm not able to totally reinstall/run SonicStage 4.0 cos after the restart, the 1st thing that pops up is a window that's looking for the OpenMG Secure Module, a .msi file, and it can't find it. Since I have no idea where it might be (looked in the available folders & found no .msi files) all I can do is hit Cancel & then it keeps retrying anyway. I did see another thread about downloading an OpenMG Secure Module, but the link provided in it only led to an error page on this bbs.Unless I'm mistaken, isn't SonicStage (or OpenMG for that matter) supposed to install the module as part of normal setup? I even tried installing OpenMG 2.2 from my old MZ-N707 & it did say it was installing the module, but I still had the same results. Is there any way to just get the damn module by itself? I'm using a Hi-MD MZ-RH910 on WinXP Service Pack 2 & was using SS 4.0 just fine until about a week ago. Thanks for any help.aaaaaaaaaaand after following a few extra steps in This thread, I was able to find & delete a lot more registry entries (including some old OMG ones) and the next SS 4.0 install went properly (including the OMG Secure Module) AND I can transfer to the PC again.
