crutches
Hey guys & gals,I have been using my Mz-RH10 for over a year, recording interviews & such for my research abroad. Now I have a few large problems:1) Is there anyway to bypass the stupid thing that only allows a track to be transferred to a computer once? (& man, I really hope there is. I have a few discs full and I transfered a lot to my school comp in India, which I don't have any access to now!)2) When you transfer the files from the Mz-Rh10 to the computer, is there anyway to maintain them in there groups? (I tried earlier and I had named my groups on the MD, but the comp made ton of untitled tracks with no groups! how can a specifically designed program do that)3) I want to move all my tracks to my g4 powerbook, but Sony has really made this extremely difficult. I looked through the forum here and found suggestions for mac compatable software and plan to try it, however, if question 1's answer is 'no', what can I do????Thx for the help
atikin
Hey there, seems like you need SonicStage 3.4 or later (up to 4.0). This program will run only on a PC. I also own an Mz-RH10 and a Mac. I also miss Sony's support for Macs. And when I need to reorganize my records I look for a neighborhood PC because I have no luck with SonicStage on VirtualPC. Sony's support for Mz-RH10 on Mac is limited. You can only send MP3 on your Mz-RH10 and that's it.1) SS 3.4 or newer allows to eliminate rights management, thus you can up/download your records many times even with previously copied tracks. You can find both SS 3.4 and 4.0 in the downloads section of this forum.2) I never had a problem like this with SonicStage. You can transfer entire groups and they stay groups in the SS library. But if you want later to see them organized in folders on the harddisk à la iTunes, I guess you have to do this manually.3) Here, I'm afraid you need to find a PC, convert your tracks to WAV files. After this you can do anything with them.Good luck
jillako
I have no luck with SonicStage on VirtualPC. What are the problems faced when you use SonicStage through VirtualPC? This was an arrangment I've been wanting to move to so I am curious.
A440
BE CAREFUL about trying to transfer tracks a second time. Once you have transferred tracks with a version of SonicStage before 3.3, you're stuck. You can't transfer those tracks again--and it's possible that if you try to transfer them, they will also be wiped off the disc. Don't mess with them. With the newest versions of SonicStage, those restrictions do not apply, but it is NOT retroactive. Only tracks that have been uploaded with 3.3, 3.4 or 4.0 can be uploaded again. Record your old tracks in realtime, or get someone in India to burn them onto a CD for you and send them to you.
atikin
What are the problems faced when you use SonicStage through VirtualPC? This was an arrangment I've been wanting to move to so I am curious.MY G4 is pretty old. It runs MacOSX 10.4.8. I could never point SonicStage to my MZ-RH10. While Windows sees it and it is accessible as USB device, SS doesn't see it at all. It has never seen it. Plus VirtualPC runs dead cold slowly on my machine. pojam
You cannot record a music rehearsal via a microphone and then transfer it via USB to your computer for burning to CD. This has been the only consistent reason why I have not purchased a MD player and will continue to be the reason. I had high hopes that they would eventually change this in their newer players, but it seems that they are just trying to hide it better. Here's what it says in the advertisment: "With the included software you can transfer files from your PC to the MZ-RH10, and VICE-VERSA, at a break-neck, 100x transfer speed." Here's what is says in the manual: "Audio data that has been transferred from your computer and stored on the MD can be transferred back to MY Library of SonicStage on your computer" Read the manual blurb carefully, you may not catch the limitation the first time you read it. The advertisement is true, but very misleading. So, why would I want this MD player? I'm not allowed to record my own music, transfer it to my computer, and burn a CD of it? Sony has gone overboard with copyright protection, and that's why they are losing the portable music player race. I don't dispute the MD's superior recording quality, but I think it's ridiculous to say that this device is for musicians given this fact.Is this true?
