KrazyIvan
ok first of all HI this forum looks great and I signed up here so I can askI was looking at MZ-NHf800 to buy it but before i did i wanted to ask what is the "VPT" Acoustic Engine and how much is the battery life when it is just the AA battery or when it's just the NiMH and what about when its both?I have the NHF800 but never heard of the VPT acoustic engine. Well I might have but maybe not in those terms. I use Ni-MH AA batteries with mine and get about 35 hours for playback only (256-292 kbps) and about 20 hours record. I use Energizer 2200 mAh AA's. That's a rough guess but pretty close. You can only use AA batteries with the NHF800. It does not have an external battery case. Ishiyoshi
i wanted to ask what is the "VPT" Acoustic EngineThe "VPT" is Sony's acronym for Virtualphone Technology. Virtualphones Technology (VPT) is Sony's proprietary virtual surround technology that enables listeners to enjoy a movie-theater-like "live" surround sound. According to Sony:VPT enables the sound image to be positioned outside the listener's head so that the sound field is created in a way that the listener can hear the sound equivalent to that naturally reproduced using 5.1-channel speaker system. With VPT, even with headphones, the listener can enjoy surround sound from discrete 5.1-channel sources such as DVD similar to what is possible with loudspeakers.VPT for Walkman is known as "VPT Acoustic Engine". With the Walkman personal stereo system, using algorithm suitable for 2-channel stereo reproduction and choosing the appropriate sound field data, this technology allows listeners to enjoy dynamic sound even in an outdoor environment.Source: Sony
WaywardTraveller
I use Ni-MH AA batteries with mine and get about 35 hours for playback only (256-292 kbps) and about 20 hours record.More importantly, perhaps, is how you manage to get 292kbps on an NH800 peaceWaywardTraveller
The Low Volta
More importantly, perhaps, is how you manage to get 292kbps on an NH800uhm, record in realtime I guess... it is called SP and except the 2nd gen, all Hi-MD's can record in MD-mode
WaywardTraveller
lol yeah i know....i'm just so used to seeing it referred to as "legacy MD mode" or SP and not lumped in with Hi-MD modes peaceWaywardTraveller
KrazyIvan
Hehe, I use my CD/MD Deck to record SP discs but I use 256 kbps for mass music disc compilations. Most of my stuff is in SP though.
