Hello to all -

I had for years sony MZ-R90 & MZ-R909...

last week it was stolen from me... and now I think to buy new...

I wanted to know, because I am not familiar with the HI-MD-

Can it record a file as MP3 format, so later I can upload it to my PC? or I can't do it???

Please guide me, because I want to buy next week and I am a little no expirience..

Thank you

Amit R.

No, you can't record in mp3 format from the unit. But you can record in PCM or HiSP, upload with SonicStage, and convert to mp3 if you want (with HiMDRenderer for example).

On the other hand, you can transfer mp3s from the PC to an HiMD unit.

So.... it is not like what I used to have (mz-r90)??? can I upload fast the files from the HI-MD to my PC and then Convert them to MP3?

I want to be sure about it...

Thank you for your guideness-

PCM (the highest quality setting will usually upload in approximately 2-3x realtime, the other compressed modes much faster. The latest model, the RH1 might be even a bit faster. Transfer is via USB, requiring to use a proprietary software called "SonicStage". Once it's uploaded and converted to a non-proprietary format (.wav), you can use any audio editor to convert to your destination format of choice.
