boojum
Hi, I did my first live recording and it sounds pretty good! Imagine that. RH1 + ECM-MS957. Not the world's best mic, I have heard, but it did alright last night. Except for the audience sounds. Oh, well.I uploaded it no sweat and it was saved in SS as an OMA file. This was then converted to a WAV file which I saved on my desktop. Questions: do I have to have the OMA file as an intermediate step and what are the losses going from PCM to OMA to WAV.I'll take my answer off the air. raintheory
If you recorded as PCM on the unit, then the resulting OMA file is actually PCM. Therefore converting the uploaded OMA file (recorded as PCM on the unit) to WAV will result in no quality loss. All uploaded files from Hi-MD are OMA, regardless of codec (ATRAC or PCM). boojum
Thanks for the quick reply! The sizes of the OMA and the WAV files are the same, so I kind of thought they were identical. But getting it from someone who knows is a good thing. Thank you!
