Sabaism
Tried to find a thread on this but couldn't find the same problem I'm having.Using SS 3.4.I was looking through the folder (in windows explorer) where all my MD files are (default destination with 3.4), and came across the Optimzed songs (or files). There were quite a few. The optimzed ones are a hell of a lot smaller in size, but they were songs i had in the regular sormat. I think it's 160 lossless atrac3. So I deleted the optimized files since I didn't know anything about it. Then I figured it be better to actually have all the files optimized so I could save space. I looked up Optimized in the help and followed the instructions. SS shutdown, like it said it would. Then after restarting SS, nothing changed. No optimized songs files in the folder and all the other siles were the same size as before.Do you know what I am doing wrong? Is there someplace I can look for answers. I've tried the help in SS but it just tells me how to optimize and nothing more. That don't work, unless I am totally missing what optimized is.Any help would be great.Ooops, saw the message not to post this here but can't see where to delete it. A440
Search the computer for .oma files. Maybe SonicStage put them somewhere else and doesn't know where to look for them. The smaller the files that you keep, the less sound quality they have. So I suggest keeping original mp3 files around, or whatever you started with, not just optimized ATRACs. When there's a space crunch on my computer, I just burn the mp3s to CDs.
peter312
If you are trying to transfer files to the MD unit that cannot be played natively on it (or indeed have SonicStage set to convert all files to a particular bitrate on transfer), SonicStage will convert the files to an appropriate format/bitrate before transferring them. The converted files are stored in your "Optimised Files" folder. For example, if your library contains WMA Lossless files and you try to transfer those to the MD, they will need to be converted to an Atrac format before the transfer can occur. A copy of the resultant Atrac Files are stored in your Optimised Files folder, as this enables a quick transfer (without conversion) the next time you wish to move the files to your MD.Hope that helps.CheersPeter

greenmachine
Deleting might not be possible for regular members. Deleting the first post probably isn't even available for special members, it would erase the entire thread including all following messages. A moderator will move it if necessary.
