MZ-RH10 Battery problem

Hi and a happy new year to all on this forum. I bought a Sony MZ-RH10 mini disk recorder 15 months ago. I only used it to record one to one interviews for my genealogy research. I have not even filled a hi-md disk yet but when I went to charge my battery last week it would not charge. At first it showed the "charging" display and then died and now it says that it is charging but after 24 hours the battery is almost dead. I would let the battery go down when not in use and charged it up before using it again as this is what I read should be done. Is my battery dead? how can this be after so little use? are these batteries easy to get, I live in Limerick, Ireland. The battery is a Sony NH-14WM(A)

Thanks in advance,

Fergus

It sounds like a straightforward battery problem. Letting the battery go all the way down before recharging it is the way to get the fullest charge, but each charging cycle is one more notch off the life of the battery.

Try getting a replacement NH14WM, either from Sony or on eBay.

Doesn't the RH10 have an outboard battery pod? How about using it with that?

Thanks A440, yes I do have add-on battery pack and its handy but I would like to sort the main battery issue out as well. I will source a replacement battery.

Thanks again,

Fergus
