  1. Thanks A440, yes I do have add-on battery pack and its handy but I would like to sort the main battery issue out as well. I will source a replacement battery. Thanks again, Fergus
  2. Hi and a happy new year to all on this forum. I bought a Sony MZ-RH10 mini disk recorder 15 months ago. I only used it to record one to one interviews for my genealogy research. I have not even filled a hi-md disk yet but when I went to charge my battery last week it would not charge. At first it showed the "charging" display and then died and now it says that it is charging but after 24 hours the battery is almost dead. I would let the battery go down when not in use and charged it up before using it again as this is what I read should be done. Is my battery dead? how can this be after so little use? are these batteries easy to get, I live in Limerick, Ireland. The battery is a Sony NH-14WM(A) Thanks in advance, Fergus
  3. Thanks Ishiyoshi, I must admit that I am completely cofused by all this atrac stuff so I can only assume that 3.3 is better than 3.2 thanks again, Fergus
  4. Hi All, just saw that SS 3.3 is available, I have 3.2, what are the improvements in 3.3? is it worth upgrading from 3.2? I find 3.2 to be pretty stable but to be honest SS is actually a disastrous piece of software in this day and age! regards, Fergus
  5. Thanks Greenmachine, does recording use up a lot of battery power? I have been charging my RH10 for over 6 hours and it still says "charging". Does the charging message dissapear when the unit is fully charged of will it keep showing the charging message? regards & thanks, Fergus
  6. Hi all, I did 2 voice recordings recently with my RH10, the battery was low so I used the mains power while recording, I used MM-BSM-9 binaural microphones. I could hear a distinct hum while monitoring the interview using headphones and the hum was even worse when I uploaded the recording using SS 3.2. Why am I getting this hum? can anyone help? I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a great 2006! Regards, Fergus
  7. Hi A440. that sounds like a good fix and well worth a try; I will endevour to keep the strain off the headphone jack as you suggest. kind regards, Fergus
  8. Hi All, I have an RH10 & I use SS 3.2 on an xp home sp2 pc. I just got the MM BSM9 dual point microphone from microphonemadness! It does exactly what I want and I am very pleased with it. I use it to record interviews, I clip one mic to my shirt and the other to the person I am interviewing; I can sit up to 12ft away from the other person and the quality is great! what I want to know is this, can I combine the 2 channels into 1 so that I am not listening to my voice on one speaker and the other persons voice on the other speaker? in other words can I record in mono? thanks in advance, Fergus
  9. Hi All, I have an RH10 & SS3.2; I use the group function on my rh10 and I am happy with it. However, when I upload my recordings, only the tracks upload and not the groups, even though I have highlighted the groups before uploading. Can groups be uploaded using ss3.2? thanks in advance, Fergus
  10. Hi Low Volta, are you saying to not modify the file before uploading to the pc? does this include renaming the file so that it is easier to find in ss? I got a weird error last night (omgibox or something like that) for the first time in 3 weeks of use and ss closed down! it did not erase my recordings but I was worried, I had renamed the files before uploading. btw, I have ss3.2 installed on an xp pc with sp2 installed Fergus
  11. Hi All, I got the loan of a Behringer Eurorack MX602A mixer(http://www.behringer.com/MX602A/index.cfm?lang=ENG) from a friend of mine so that I could try out connecting 2 mics into my rh10 player. Well, it worked great but I do not know enough about mixers to get the most out it. The mx602a has 2 balanced xlr mic inputs that also have line in connections beneath them; I was using 2 sony ms907 mics connected to the line in ports. This is where I am confused, I had to turn the gain up to the last (or very close to it) to get a loud enough response, this resulted in a tiny bit of noise on the recording! btw, I was recording 2 of my children reading from books and sitting 3-4 feet away from the mics at different ends of the room. 1. I was quite pleased with the end result but could it be better? 2. Would balanced mics with xlr connections be a better job? 3. Can the sony ms907 mics be connected tp the xlr inputs using an adapter? 4. I kept the eq, md & ld pots at mid range, should I adjust these 5. Would turning on the 48v phantom power blow my mics when they are plugged into the line in ports? 6. Can I use a mic in the line in port at the same time as a mic in the xlr port? 7. There is an updated version of this mixer available - Eurorack ub802 (http://www.behringer.com/UB802/index.cfm?lang=ENG), is there much of a difference? thanks in advance Fergus
  12. HI Greenmachine, I have used the mic with my digital camcorder and with an ordinary tape recorder and the results were excellent in both cases. I have checked the web and I am considering buying something like the Sound Professionals SP-BMC3 Standard Binaural Microphone (http://www.minidisco.com/sp-bmc3.html). Most of what I am doing is interview recording so I could keep one channel for the person asking the questions & the other for the interviewee. Other than that I will have to invest in a mixer but I freely admit that I need to learn a lot more about sound in general before I go down that road, this forum has been great help to me so far. Can anyone recommend a good dual point microphone that has very good seperation (6-10') between the channels? Fergus
  13. I got my first ever mini disk 2 weeks ago and I have the very same question as you - can I connect 2 mics into my mz rh10? if you succeed, will you let me know the secret? Fergus
