Multiple libraries with SonicStage

Is it possible to have more than one library on a PC with SonicStage ... or at least can you associate the library with the suer profile so different users can have different libraries. Main reason is I've imported all my classical music in SS while my son also has a Sony device and I've been importing some of his CDs but it would be really convenient to have seperate libraries to simplify auto-updating devices etc. Last time I tried there didn't seem to be any way of doing this and the current solution is to use different PCs

Thanks for any info

A brute force method would be to have two different SS folders on the PC. SS1 & SS2. When you open SS clear the library if its not yours and then reimport the correct directory.

3) Del SonicStage library (but don't delete tracks from HD when prompted).

4) Drag and Drop SonicStage dir on destination PC into SonicStage window.

5) Select All Tracks and mark them all as Compilation

6) Switch back to Album mode.

This is a variation on this thread...

Perhaps there's a more elegant way. This way is slow though if you've a lot of tracks to import.

I don't how this would work with a portable device, as I don't have multiple sony devices to try it. I assume the db is on the portable though. I should point out that I resassign all the SS directory paths to the new SS directory aswell. So they all point to C:\SS1 or C:\SS2 etc.

Thanks for the pointers ... I'll probably give this a go (also answers another question on how to share SS between more than one PC)

The main problem I can see though is that I converted the bulk of my CDs before SS had the "don't add any DRM as I promise not to copy things I'm not meant to" option ... so most of my library has DRM. Sometime ago I read that you can strip the DRM by doing a format conversion to the same format which leaves the music data unchanged but removes the DRM wrapper so I probably need to sit down to go through the process of doing this on everything!

In this pinned thread there is an easier way, if you have a lot of files.

- In SonicStage, go the the menu "Tools" and select "Start File Conversion Tool".

- If it opens up, click Next and then UNSELECT both options ('Delete Files' and 'Add DRM'). Click Next and the tool will start converting all drm-ed files to non-drm-ed files.

This'll save you a lot of time :)
