hyperballad400
Hi there,Apologies for being new and not knowing anything. I received this MZ-RH10 from a friend, and so am starting from scratch. I installed Sonic Stage from herehttp://www.sonydigital-link.com/downloads/downloads.asp?l=enand am pretty sure it's the most up to date version. When I connect the player to the computer and try to import tracks to SonicStage, I get an error code that it cannot import the tracks (00007173). When I try to open the tracks from the desktop (Drive E), I'm told that the disk is not formatted and it asks whether I would like to format. Since I'm using a disk that isn't of great importance, I say Yes, but then the system tells me the disk cannot be formatted. The disk is not write protected. (Note -- I recorded the sound on this disk using a Marantz PMD 650.) I'm running Windows XP. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you so much. The Low Volta
there are two main types of recordings on MD:- legacy recordings (made with any MD's that is not HiMD)- HiMD recordings (HiLP, HiSP or PCM)HiMD's can upload HiMD-recordings. Legacy recordings cannot be uploaded except with one recent model: the RH1 (not 10).The marantz is not HiMD, but the RH10 is... so:- recordings made with the RH10 (in HiLP, HiSP or PCM) can be uploaded- recordings made with the Marantz cannot be uploaded by the RH10if you need to get recordings made with the marantz to PC, there are two options:- real-time (analog) transfer (see this thread)- buy an RH1 (but unless you have lots of irreplacable material you need to transfer this is not necessary)
Ishiyoshi
Welcome to MDCF! When I connect the player to the computer and try to import tracks to SonicStage, I get an error code that it cannot import the tracks (00007173).Because you’ve referenced error code: 00007173, I will assume the tracks you’ve attempt to import are Mp3s. In any event, SonicStage’s error code: 00007173 is usually the result of an attempt to import Mp3 files with the following characteristics: Mp3s with lower bit rates (i.e. 48 kbps or lower)Solution: reconvert these lower bit rates to higher bit rates of your choice Mp3s of VBR (variable bit rate)Solution: reconvert these Mp3s into CBR (constant bit rate) type. Unusual Mp3 tagsSolution: re-tag (with utility such as Tag&Rename) those Mp3s in question for it to playback properly with SonicStage. If the Mp3s in question exhibit the above characteristics, please try the prescribed solutions. For your reference, most users with similar issue will tend to retag those affected files, i.e. remove the old tags and rename them from the title to the comments. I hope this method will work for you. Good luck.
hyperballad400
Thank you both very much. I may be able to borrow the required cable for the analog transfer, so that may work. However, Ishiyoshi, in regards to your tips -- How can I reconvert/re-tag the tracks in question if I can't see them on my computer? Is the answer just to do the analog transfer, as The Low Volta suggested? Again, thank you!!Welcome to MDCF! Is the answer just to do the analog transfer, as The Low Volta suggested?I overlook the fact that you've recorded the sound via the Marantz PMD 650. In that case, do as The Low Volta had suggested. Sorry about that.
