ndevans
I have recently begun to encouter frustrating problems with my MZ-NH1, which I bought around 18 months ago, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some helpful advice...After I'd uploaded some new albums onto my MD, I noticed that some of the albums towards the end of the disc did not play correctly - the sound would cut out occasionally (and not in a predicable manner - sometimes parts of tracks would play where before they hadn't and vice versa) and some tracks refused to play entirely. But the LED displays on the recorder would indicate that time on the track was elapsing normally. On reconnecting the device to my computer the sonic stage software (v3.4.01.13062) took ages to recognise the disc and displayed "AccessErr". Now, usually the software ends up crashing after spending ages in suspended animation (very annoying). If I format the disc and try again, the player and software will work normally as long as I don't fill up my 1GB discs to more than about 40% capacity; i.e. I don't get any issues with playback or with the disc being read when it's connected up to the PC. But if I add further tracks to the disc, the problem recurrs irritatingly until I reformat the disc. Can anyone advise me? I've tried various different discs, tried reformatting, and reinstalling the software, all to no avail.I also have another problem - occasionally playback cuts out completely and the MD starts to behave as if I have just inserted the disc; i.e. it goes back to the beginning of the whole disc. VEry annoying if you're listening to long tracks. I think this maybe due to a loose connection in the battery, but that is just a guess.Anyway, can anyone help? What is annoying is that my old SP player worked for 5 years without a single hitch. I beginning to feel like a luddite and considering just taping all my music in SP directly from my hifi onto a disc like in the old days. I've wasted so much time fannying around being annoyed with the NH1. I'm even thinking of getting an iPod.I should also mention that discs I have previously filled up to 1Gb capacity continue to work normally on my MD when played. I daren't connect these old disc up in case the same problem occurs and I lose the tracks on them.I should also mention that discs I have previously filled up to 1Gb capacity continue to work normally on my MD when played. raintheory
For starters, you may want to upgrade to one of the latest SonicStage versions (4.2 or 4.3) and see if that helps any of the software issues.Beyond that, the only other thing I can mention is that others have had problems with loose or corroded battery terminals in their units that woul;d cause the player to restart on its own, like you mentioned.
