Hi...i have a Hi-md mz-m10 and have wav importer installed...but when i try to upload songs that i have recorded on my md to my computer only the first song of my disc works...the rest are greyed out and do not sure the size of files...i don't do anything different to my recorder for the songs...any light to be shed would be appreciated...also i'm wondering if anyone knows if assuming everything was working right can you record on any of the regular md's or does it have to be a hi-md(like the 1gig ones)...meaning the actual discs...not the recorder...

thanks,

If you are trying to upload songs from another recorder , or that are in Standard MD (SP,LP2,LP4) and not HIMD they wont show.

You need to make sure you have your recorder IN HIMD mode and the disc is formatted in HIMD . So before you record anything Format the MD your going to use in HIMD Disc Mode , then Record in HIMD (HI SP, HI LP, PCM) then you should have no problems.

See also if you are in Group mode , If you see a bunch of folders nested when you connect th MD your in Group record mode, If everything is in One folder ,then your not.

Are you using "MD Transfer" The Sony software or something different ? To convert the HILP and HISP you need the MD Transfer software. It works good , I am on a Macbook so I can help with the Mac stuff.

As Guitarfxr mentions, definitely update to v2.0 of the software. It may fix the problem, as well as allow you to download Mp3 files to your recorder via Mac. Also you will be able to upload Hi-SP & Hi-LP tracks, the older version of the Mac software only allowed uploading of PCM tracks.

And to clarify some, yes you can use standard MD discs, as long as you format them as Hi-MD. The M10 doesn't record in legacy mode (LP2/LP4) except via SonicStage, so you shouldn't have to worry about accidentally recording in those formats.

Ok, version 2 is slightly better, but it's still in a different century to the iTunes / iPod combo for functionality...

Has anyone tried uploading legacy MDs from a deck to a Macbook via toslink? Any way to avoid a lengthy process involving Garageband and lots of track-splitting?

A little research in the forums will show you that NOone uses Garage band for the MD transfer , Audacity , CD Wave , SoundStudio

More simplcty no project setup, Garage Band is fro The musicians , not MDer's

I have a post over in software discussions that has links to a lot of free downloads , Most of the progs are free , for just simply set and forget then come back later and fix. look at post #2 there is a Link. just scroll up from here.

iPod and iTunes , are NOT about Capturing sound, Music , Live, Freinds CD's ( you dont drag your Mac everywhere you go ) Concerts , Festivals , Nature, Lectures, Parties, Rehearsals, Kids Graduation, Clandestine Recording, AND JUST PLAIN SOUNDING GOOD, as well as HAVING THE THING THAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES NOT HAVE.

iPod is an addiction , and a waste of constructive time.

For playing CD on my Macbook I use Audion 3 , not iTunes, i tunes is a resource hog ,and simply a matter of "oneupsmanship" for Apple , (I happen to know the semi-complete history of iTunes developement, and how those chose an inferior format to build it on because they could negotiate a deal with a better designer , so they took the "Lesser of two evils" when they started building iTunes.)

And by the way , the RH1 WIll play mp3 , and it is just simply drag and drop to the MD Transfer window.

This forum and topic board is NOT about ITUNES or IPODS , it is CAlled the "MD Forums" its address is minidisc.org not ipod.org

now that I have finished ranting ,....can we have an intelligent conversation? :punish:
