dramamine
hey everyone, i just dug up my minidisc player from a while back, a Net MD Walkman MZ-N510 Type S.I have some pretty high quality headphones, as well as a stereo microphone from my headset for testing purposes, which i wish to upgrade once i know how to make recording work.i have sonicstage, etc.but i can not seem to get the dang thing recording. i plugged in the mic, as well as the headphones, and hit record, and yelled and screamed, played some loud music, and played some guitar just to see what kind of sound the thing would pick up.I tried to listen to the recording on the player itself, as well as in Sonic Stage, but not even a whisper could be heard.i am not quite sure of where i am going wrong....help?thanks in advance for your patience and response. A440
The MZ-N510 has only a line-in jack, not a mic jack. That means there is no plug-in power going to the mic and no preamp behind it to amplify the tiny signal from a microphone. You need to give it a line-strength signal--perhaps out of a guitar amp or a stereo. A pocket preamp would cost you nearly as much as a new, and much more useful, Hi-MD unit. For loud stuff a battery module might be enough, depending on the sensitivity of your microphone. http://www.microphonemadness.com/products/mmcbmminminc.htm
