tiburns Posted May 26, 2007 Report Share Posted May 26, 2007 I have attempted to build a power box for my new microphones. I have used the drawnings from this forum. I have gone over it atleast 5 times. I also had my wife look at it and for some reason it is not working. I need some troubleshooting tips to find out what is wrong.. Can someone please help. If the microphone is powered by the battery box. Shouldn't I be able to connect it to a head set and hear the speaker working or not? It supplies bias current to electret mics so that they can record louder sounds without distortion. You may be thinking of a pre-amp which does amplify. The "mic-in" of your MD has this function. pepsi_max2k Posted May 30, 2007 Report Share Posted May 30, 2007 as i found out yesterday when testing mine, you can connect the socket end of the battery box in to a speaker's mic out, then some headphones into the socket and you should be able to hear the output fine. you can also try to touch the headphone's socket to various points on the left or right of the socket to see where the fault may be, though you also need to have the ground of the headphone socket connected to the battery's negative connection, which could be tricky depending on the physical layout of the circuit... anyway. i still have no sound output from the right of my circuit Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
tiburns Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Share Posted May 30, 2007 Thanks I rewired the circuit and now it seems to be working. I wired the power to the wrong side of the resistor. After redoing it everything seems to work fine. Thanks for the quick response. And all the help.. I am not real good a reading a wiring diagram. Again thanks to all.
