"resume" play of an MP3 file?

Hello

I have a large collection of audio cassettes which I am transferring to MP3. Many of these are quite long talks (many sermons and other teaching classes) where there are no track-breaks or suitable places to put such breaks. One of the problems with MP3 files is that if you have a large file there seems to be no way to stop "playing" the file and "resume" from that spot. When playing the file on computer one can of course move the sliding bar with the mouse and get back to much the same place as before.

Any suggestions, please.

Are there MP3 players out there which will do this?

I assume the same is true of WAV files

thanks

BTW I am a devoted mini-disc user, but have also started using an Edirol R-1 for off-air recordings, and for this tape-transfer work.

Pretty much all the major DAPs (Sony, Apple, etc) support resume on MP3s, including 2nd gen HiMDs (as long as you don't eject the disc) and even MP3 PCDPs. However, some can be finicky if the MP3 file is too long.

The "pause" function I have seen has only referred to momentary pause; not "resume" when you switch the player on again the next day. Could you give me some model numbers to check out.

Sorry, but what is a PCDP ?

thanks for the fast reply

Referring to MP3 resume feature:

-iPods (5G, nano 2G, shuffle 1G): will resume where you left off. Only lose resume position after you transfer/sync music with your PC.

-2nd gen HiMD units onwards (I have DH710, DH10P, and RH1): will resume where you left off. Only lose resume if you eject the disc.

-Sony Network walkmen (NW-E99, NW-S705F): will resume where you left off. Lose resume whenever you change battery/after charging, and after transferring music.

-Sony PCDPs (D-NE20): will resume where you left off. Only lose resume if you open the lid.

I think he is actually talking about track marking.

There should be a button called T Mark, press that and a mark should be made. Refer to your manual on how to use it, as I have never used it before.

Edit: Oh, nvm what I've just said
