cari
I just bought my first minidisc recorder, and having played around with some recording I went to upload the music onto my computer and....nothing. I downloaded the disc that came with it (getting SonicStage and MD Simple Burner), followed the directions in the instruction booklet ("Connect "the recorder to computer through the USB cable."), and waited...and waited...I even downloaded the disc and then tried it with my mother's computer. Nothing. Any advice? I'm hoping its not the machine itself, because I need to take it with me out of the coutry in a couple weeks.

Assuming you did this, what do you see on the screen? When I open SonicStage I see two panels: on the LHS is "Library" and on the RHS is "Hi-MD" with info on the disc in the MD recorder. If you don't see that, you should at least see three buttons along the top of the screen - Music Source, My Library and Transfer. Click on Transfer - what do you see? cari
I guess I was a in a bit of a fuss and thought I mentioned the model. I bought the MZRH1, and yeah, I did open SonicStage. Under Transfer (even with my MD recoder connected via cable, the list says "create Audio CD, ATRAC CD, MP3 CD" there is no mention of HI MD.I also went into My Computer to see if I could see whether or not the computer recognized it, and there was nothing. raintheory
Try a different USB port (you'd be surprised how often this works).
jimtron
I've got this problem as well. I just opened a brand new RH1 which I'm using on a Mac G5 with Hi-MD Music Transfer 2.0. Apple System Profiler recognizes the RH1I have a disc in the recorder, which plays fine (it's been recorded onto)The display of the RH1 shows that it's connected to the computerWhen I launch HMT it says "device/media not connected"I've tried using different USB ports, plugging and replugging, restarting the compuer, the RH1, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.eta: battery level appears to be fulleta2:I found this related thread, but no answer. I am trying to connect with older standard MD discs--would that keep the RH1 from mounting/showing up with Hi-MD Music Transfer?eta3:OK, it works fine with the Hi-MD disc. I read the FAQs, but maybe I'm an idiot--I thought the RH1 would allow me to upload tracks from older Minidisc recordings--did I get that wrong? I've got a bunch of stuff on standard MDs I was hoping to transfer via USB.eta4: It's official--I am an idiot. with the mac software you cannot (really we tried):- upload legacy (in this case any non-HiMD) recordings (not even legacy recordings made with the RH1) Edited July 3, 2007 by jimtron
madmacmike
Your only solution for the older MD material is to use a Windoze machine, sonicstage will allow you to upload the old discs. From there you can transfer the files to your mac if you convertered them to wav format when they were uploaded or use some conversion software and turn them into whatever format you need. All though I thought i saw a thread that said one of the virtual windows things will work as well, Parrallels for Mac.I've got this problem as well. jimtron
Thanks for the reply. Fortunately I can boot into Windows with my Macbook, which I just did, and used Sonicstage to upload my old discs, which I'm very happy about--that's the main reason I bought the RH1.
