A440
The handheld recorder looks very promising--even includes track marks--but it is big. If you look at the downloadable manual you'll see where the AAA batteries fit in, and it looks like the whole unit is the length of five or six AAA batteries end to end--like a TV remote control, as they say, anda big one. Less stealthy than MD.Also, there's the price: 500 euros! Edited July 2, 2007 by A440

Less stealthy than MD.Also, there's the price: 500 euros! It is the Length of 3 AAA battes end to end , And the Docking station gives Full audio implementation XLR preamps ,RCA inputs , USB , Power and a few other things , It has built in Limiter ( Not to be confused with AGC) it is a " Brick Wall" Limiter that does not destroy the dynamics of the recording.Thats where the price tag comes from . It records in mpeg2l format Find any recorder with those features , and look at the tag , Marantz has a Flash based recorder I wouldnt mind having , even though it is only 16 bit But it is 600 dollars
A440
It is the Length of 3 AAA battes end to end ,No denying the feature set looks amazing. But look at the photo on page 5 of the downloadable manual. http://www.maycom.nl/Documents/ManualHandHeld.pdfThat looks a lot longer than 3 AAA batteries to me. You can hold it in your hand, but you definitely can't cover it in your hand or tuck it into a pocket.

A440
Dimensions L x W x H = 178 x 64 x 30 mm (including battery pack)178 mm = 7 inches, more than 4 AAAs. Too big for my pocket and, at the moment, for my pocketbook.
