Hi...so I'm reading the battery is built in ? does this mean it can't be changed by the owner ?

if I can do it with a screwdriver I'm ok with it. I ask because I'm shopping around for one. they are pritty swanky looking units.

my other alternative is to look for the EH1 which is also play only but will do HiMD.

I was also reading it requires a special 'phone jack or something ?

I was reading it's got a special adaptor ? something easily lost or broken ?

like I said I'm shopping around for one of these so any warnings apriciated. they're really sexy looking.

thanks for any advice :thank_you2:

Sharp looking unit, looks like battery can be replaces by taking the back cover off, not quite rocket surgery, hopefully it comes with the 3mm adapter, or you may need special phones. You could also look at the EH1, not as thin, but plenty good looking.

Good luck

Hi again Bob =)

I agree the EH1 is sweet too especially with it being HiMD...but you know gadget collectors...I think I ment to say EH1 instead of E10 up there...

anyway...I'm looking at an add for one of these but I wanted to ask around here before I botherd the guy with a call. he's asking for $75 and says it's barly used cause he turned into a pod person. poor guy ;^)

heh, well, I spoke with the seller, she seems to have the unit and all included parts...so, we may strike up a deal. heh, she sounded cute.

maybe I'll offer her $85 with shipping ?

I might add Bob that after checking ebay including completed auctions, a few have sold for less.

I'm getting the feeling it's tiny size comes with a cost of being fragile. I've seen several mentions of dented cases. add to that the need for an extra doodad for pluging the 'phones in and I have a feeling alot of them get damaged or renderd useless with the loss of the one unit remote or adapter.

still it's really nifty looking, a good companion for a home 3cd dubbing deck with MDLP.

Ahh, Ishiyoshi...yes I found that last night after posting this question. seems like it's the difinative answer...these batteries are cheap on ebay too.

as soon as I hear back I'm gonna go for it.

oh, I havent seen anything yet, but does the E10 need any modds like changing volume limits in the service mode ? this unit was originally bought in London.

thanks again folks

=^)

well, I agree, this diagram is for disposal of the battery, and after searching google on this, I never found a post on any board stating someone actually DID it successfully. so indeed that little bit may need to be broken off there. maybe it's solderd down on instalation.

still it looks like a sony service tech could do it or a crafty person with the right tools.

after reading about a ribbon connectior being replaced with wires from earbud cord I can't imagine it's impossible.

I would like to read that someone actually did it though.

Hi Bob, I know nothing. this question of changing batterys is just to see if I can before I buy one.

the one I've found is suposedly working fine. I'm still waiting for the seller to get back with me. I had one conversation with her and as far as I can tell, she's got the whole thing with all the contens of the retail box and she recently checked it and it's working well.

the add was in L.A. but when I called, she was in N.Y.C. on her cell. hard to hear her so I gave her my email. her add is expired now but I wrote down the phone #.

well...it's been a week or more and the add is now gone, I still got her phone # and I've left my email with her. heven't herd back yet.

I hope she writes me soon...maybe she was on a buisness trip ? ehh...it's annoying when someone posts a sale add and dosn't keep the conversation going.
