baa
Hi, sorry i know this must be a nooby question but i dont understand, so ill just ask directly.I bought a microphone, a Superlux S241, to record to my MZ NH900 minidisc. I bought an appropriate cable to be able to connect the two (to connect the mic to a 1/8" jack). But it wont record, there doesnt seem to be any sound going into the mic. the bars on the MD display show nothing. I thought my MD would have plug in power. So whats going on. What do i need to get recording? Thanks
greenmachine
The mic probably needs phantom power, which is approx. 48V - plug-in-power is less than 5V usually.
A440
Yes, it does need phantom power.http://www.avlex.com/pdfs/S241_U3.pdfYou'll need an external power supply, or a different mic. http://www.zzounds.com/cat--Phantom-Power-Supplies--2829Also, if that's a mono mic you are going to need an adapter for stereo.
