Looking to buy a Sony Hi-MD model

I'm new to this forum and a novice mini-disk user. As I posted a few days ago, my Sony MZ-M100 unit was "taken from my car without permission" a few days ago and I need to replace it. In the process of trying to find an appropriate replacement I became thoroughly confused by all the various model numbers. Thanks to this forum (and one member in particular who seems to know his stuff), I now have at least a modicum of understanding of all the letters & numbers although it's still somewhat mind-numbing, (or maybe that's the drugs). :scratchhead:

90% of the time I use it to record "field" interviews at a shelter for at risk teens. I already have a Sony Mic (ESM-DS70P), the carrying case, USB cable, and charger that came with my original unit so all I REALLY need is the recorder itself but I'm open to other options. I just need to make sure it has the functionality I need.

I edit the interviews on my PC so I need a unit that can transfer the audio via USB (as opposed to real time), which - as I understand it - means I need a Hi-MD unit of some kind. I don't require "top-of-the-line" audio quality but would like good to excellent sound and a unit that's at least somewhat durable and not overly delicate.

Based on those criteria it's been recommended that I look at an MZ-NH700, an RH10 or an RH1, although there are others that would also address my needs.

So I'm in the market for a unit and want to thank this forum for the invaluable help (and A440 in particular).

Please contact me if you have an option. Thanks so much.

Yo, Kevin,

I do happen to have an extra MZ-NH700 I am intending to get rid of, so PM me and I can give you a quote, and since you already have the Hi-MD power adapter for the North American Hi-MD units from your old M100 (model no. AC-ES3010K), compatibility with foreign power adapters (this unit is from Sony Australia) won't be an issue.

I also wonder if you own a PC or a Mac, as that will determine whether this great unit will work for your intended purpose.
