BIGHMW
I own an RH1 I bought las July from B & H Photo and Video and I really do enjoy using it for uploading legacy discs to my PC, but I have just one question, as I am skeptical about the following:I have a direct link on my PC to MiniDisc Canada, and I was wondering from any of you if you have bought an RH1 (in black at that) from them in the past, and if you have, do they sell North American-market versions or is it the infamous "Euro-crippled" version you have to hack?I hope to hear from you soon,Ray JacksonMDCF user ID: BIGHMW
sector001
i bought a used RH1 from someone who bought it from minidisc Canada, and I'm sure it's not euro capped. Canada is in North America.

Canada is in North America.Yes but does it have the "CE" mark (Euro versions have it), or does it have both the FCC's and the Canadian ICES markings on it? If so I will get one from MDC, otherwise I will get an M200 from MiniDisco instead.
sector001
what's the price of the RH1 at minidisc canada? I believe the M200 is $330 at minidisco...unless the savings is different i buy it from minidisco
Avrin
The Euro version is easy to tell - it has EU8 printed in bold at the top left corner of the bar code sticker on the box. It's not as crippled as second generation units, BTW. Edited March 2, 2008 by Avrin
BIGHMW
I got my black RH1 from them. It has both the FCC's and the Canadian ICES markings on it indeed. As far as I've noticed it isn't crippled in any way, it sounds identical to my silver Japanese one. You'll get instruction manuals in English, Spanish and French as a bonus , which explains why the box is a tad fatter.Oh, and a 38EL is provided with it, like with the US model I imagine, and unlike the Japanese one that comes with the 35ELK.But that's no issue really, since a 40ELK is a must add-on.Cool, I'll get my second RH1 from MDC then (it's nice to have a backup in case your first one dies out on you), after I am through with my other business with my music, such as putting out more merchandise for my planned comeback. BIGHMW
Oh, and a 38EL is provided with it, like with the US model I imagine, and unlike the Japanese one that comes with the 35ELK.But that's no issue really, since a 40ELK is a must add-on.I don't have to worry too much about my fairly large supply of remotes (both bundled and aftermarket), as I already own two 40ELK remotes, including one I bought off of lamewing on this board just this past week.I have done some experimentation as far as matching up custom remote/phones sets is concerned, and I find the matte black 38EL/35ELK to go perfectly with either the NC60 noise-canceling cans, the EX71/81SL N.U.D.E EX IEM's or even better the E888SP N.U.D.E buds (all matte black with a tad of chrome on them, all go perfect with the black RH1/M200.)Also the gloss/matte black RH710 goes perfect with the black MC55ELK remote and EX85SL black N.U.D.E EX IEM's...and finally... the NH700 Silver goes great with either the 39LT AM/FM/TV/WB radio tuner remote (perfect for going to ball games at Safeco Field and listening to the play-by-play from Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Niehaus, GO MARINERS!!!) or the 40ELK remote with either the NC6 noise-canceling cans (I miss my old pair with the custom homemade "JE Version"-style cord I had on them) or the EX90SL N.U.D.E EX IEM's Edited March 2, 2008 by BIGHMW
