Question

Help!!

My nw-a1000 just died on me one morning. i cant start the player nor can get the PC to detect it.

When I press any of the buttons, all buttons light up, including the link button, but the screen show nothing. Pressing or hold the 'hold' button does nothing. The light will keep on and the player will become warm to the touch after a while. clicking 'reset' turn the buttons light off, but still wont restart to normal status.

Anyone encountered this? Any suggestion to try before I send it in to Sony Support?

btw, I charged using the cradle, my player firmware is 2.01, and I am using Connect auto-updated version for transfer. System is XP sp2.

Welcome to Atraclife!

I haven`t seen anybody in ths forum having this type of problem before ..I will advise you seek help from Sony or Sony service station.

Or ask your dealer to exchange the player with a new one .

I guess that's my only option now... Just is a hastle to take time off my schedule to go to the dealer..

<br>

It's a shame cause I really love this player a lot. With its design alone I was willing to overlook it's proprietary usb cable, no FM, no recording, non-flash base, sucky software, no drag & drop.... I really love it when it works, looks great and sounds excellent.

too bad this should happend. :(

I called Sony Customer Service, and they told me they dont have a one-on-one exchange policy, even thought the players is with me for only 3 days. They ask me to send it in for repair.

Feeling sad, I brought my unit to the dealer instead, to my pleasant surprise, they offered to change a new unit for me straight away. Because they only had stock in Violet colour, so they called and ordered the replcement for me. I was told to collect it tomorrow. :)

halfm,

Sony Never exchange players one to one ..they exchange player in extreme conditons only like when reparing cost is high enough etc

Thats why i asked you to contact your dealer also ..

I don't understand you people... if it died after less than a month, why in the world would you call sony support?? Just go to your dealer and exchange it, that is why you have a 30 day return/exchange policy at these stores... Why waste 2 months waiting to get your player back from repair, when you could just go get a new one in a day??

That's not common around my area. At most 7 days one-on-one exchange. That's why I called Sony Cust first, I thought I have a higher chance with them.

Anyway, gotten my replacement unit and happy using it. :)
