Legacy MD upload problem with MZ-RH1 to Mac running Parallels

So, I have two Intel Macs running OS 10.5.2 and the newest version of Parallels. I'm having a heck of a time trying to upload legacy MD recordings to Sonic Stage (tried versions 4.0, 4.2, 4.3) under parallels from my MZ-RH1.

I've gotten this to work in the past under earlier Parallels versions and my recorder works just fine with my ancient Windows XP machine.

But with both my Macs either the upload hangs at 98% or it gets to 99% and then starts over and hangs at 1%.

Anyone have a similar issue? Is anyone else using this set up without problem?

Thanks!

You cannot upload legacy MD to a Mac, only to a PC. Sony prefers PCs because it allows them to utilise copy protection and DRM.

You didnt read his post . He IS running Windows ......... Parrallels lets you Run Windows on a Mac .

Please read more carefully .

@ the Mac problem . I am on a Macbook Pro C2D , what I have noticed from other Mac users ( Not on this forum ) is that Leopard , isnt playing nice . Tiger was fine and was still compatable .

When you tried the different versions of SS did you make sure to completely uninstall the previous version ( including cleaning the registry?)

I think you will have to clean all traces of it from the Windows side .

What you should try , is first clean everything Sony out of the registry on the windows side, as well as all folders .

Then (if your using XP ) ....DO NOT USE 4.3 ,........ you should use 4.2 , ......4.3 is Vista only and doesnt work well at all , everyone is having probs with it .

What I do , is use Audacity or Final Vinyl , and just record my Legacy discs directly in , but recently I have purchased a Tascam Dr1 , and I am going to try a Line recording with it today ( I have been testing it out for the forums , and have a review up already)

With the Mac OS changes that have occured recently , The API and Core Kernel has changed quite a bit , and it just might not be able to agree with Sonic Stage .

Have you tried MD Transfer 2.0 on the Mac side yet? I would like to know how it works , that is one thing holding me back from getting Leopard . I use my RH1 with my Mac as well , But I only use HiMd mode , and upload thru MD Transfer 2.0 .

MP3 transfers also work very well to MP3 capable MD's

This won't help much, but I have a very similar setup. iMac running Tiger, with Parallels 3.0 and SonicStage (under XP).

I have almost the reverse problem. I CAN upload old SP recordings using the RH1 without a problem, but cannot get the RH1 to transfer any form of Hi-MD format in either direction. Yet it will on a WindowsXP laptop.

So that doesn't help you at all (!!), but it might help to know that other people with almost the same setup are having similar teething problems running Parallels.

Why dont you have MD Transfer 2.0 on the Mac side as well,???? then you could use the mac side for the Hi MD stuff , with a Much simpler prog

Not sure about Parallels but VMWARE virtual machine running XP runs fine (am using SUSE LINUX 10.3 as host system).

The other alternative with a MAC is to try BOOTCAMP.

BTW if you don't want to spend any money on VMWARE WORKSTATION you can download QEMU for any Linux platform, create a Virtual machine using QEMU specifying the vdmk (VMWARE) format and then use the FREE VMPLAYER to run your Virtual Machine.

Just do a bit of googling on QEMU.

If you can run any flavour of Linux here's how to create a VM which will work under VMWARE -- no need to spend 200 USD on VMWARE workstation.
