Marco Paulo
I have all my music on MD but some friends, who have no MD player, would like to copy some of my numbers. How can I transfer music from MD (Sony MDS-S50) to CD?Thanks in advanceMarco Paulo
KJ_Palmer
Not quickly, in a word (well, two words). First you'll have to record them in real time to your computer to a format such as Wav, then do a little editing of the wav files in something like Audacity. You can then use CD burning software to make the CD from the wav files. Not too difficult really, but time consuming. You can see our full guide here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7070. Go to the Net-MD users section.Alternatively you can use an MZ-RH1 or M200 to upload to wav files if you have lots of money to spare, or a friend who'll let you borrow one.. BIGHMW
I just simply (and anyone with a couple of pro decks can do this) dub my finished MD's onto CD-R with my Sony MDS-E10 Pro MiniDisc Deck (using the optical out) to my HHB CDR-850 Pro CD Recorder (to its optical in). With pro decks (and there are pro units available of both MD and CD formats) you don't have to worry about copy protection such as SCMS or any of that crap. Marco Paulo
Hi Mate,So you mean there is no interface or any software stuff to be connected between the MD player and the CD recorder, right?Sorry about these trivial questions but I'm quiet ignorant about all this.By the way, what do you mean by HHB: what's that? I'm living in Thailand and I'm not sure we have that kind of stuff here. Thanks in advance and Peace on EarthMarco PauloI just simply (and anyone with a couple of pro decks can do this) dub my finished MD's onto CD-R with my Sony MDS-E10 Pro MiniDisc Deck (using the optical out) to my HHB CDR-850 Pro CD Recorder (to its optical in). kino170878
Sounds like you don't have access to professional equipment from companies like HHB and Tascam. But you must surely have access to consumer level decks in Thailand I would imagine. Lots of companies should be selling those. If you can then buy a consumer CD recorder, all you would need is a Sony MD deck with digital out (optical or coaxial) like the 'JB' series and a SCMS stripping machine. It should be able to get rid of the copy limitation and you can make CDs from MDs in the digital domain. This is a strictly hardware solution with no computer in sight. On the other hand, if you had decent software editors on the PC and a high quality soundcard with digital connections maybe you can go the computer route. Hardware though is more straightforward I find. Edited June 26, 2008 by kino170878
A440
Kino, you're still talking about realtime recording, right? Even though it's optical.I have the feeling Marco is looking for a file transfer. And for that, he'll need the MZ-RH1--which, if it can be found, would probably be about the same price as two decks. kino170878
True the RH1 is an elegant solution. To get a CD for his friends though he will have to convert from Atrac to WAV through Sonicstage and then again to CD audio. I think in this case a straight digital transfer via hardware isn't really too bad. Edited July 1, 2008 by kino170878
1kyle
The easiest way as other posters have pointed out is to use SS to burn to CD.However rather than burn to a "Real" CD you could create an .ISO image file (or .NRG if using Nero)Then you just need to send the file to your friends. They also don't need a "Real" CD to play the music --if they have something like Nero you can mount the image with DRIVEIMAGE (part of NERO) and your computer will treat this as a REAL CD. They can import the music into whatever system they like (any CD Ripping program will work) or can just play the "image" as a REAL CD.If you give the ISO / NRG image away ensure you legally own the copyright. There are enough TOTAL SCUMBAG LITIGATION LAWYERS around now whose ONLY purpose on this planet is to screw working people into the ground while sticking their tongues up the bottoms of corporate giants.
