mfnich
I need to play some Minidisc recordings made circa 2005. I do not know which model recorder was used to make the recordings, nor do I know what format the recordings are in. (The disc is the 74 minute type. It says 'Sony Recordable MD' on it.)I recently purchased a used MZ-E44 player. It won't play the recordings. (It can play the first few recordings on the disc just fine, but not the ones I need, which are later on the disc.) When I try to play them, the letters 'LP' show on the display; the timer ticks away like it's playing, but there is no sound. My guess is that the recordings I need on this disc were recorded in a format that this player is too primitive to handle. Does that sound right, folks? And if so, what specs should I look for in a used player, so that I can be confident it will be able to play them? Thanks for your help. Please pardon my near-total ignorance of Minidisc technology! Like this model here: http://minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-E900.htmlor NEWER! The feature to look for is "MDLP"
raintheory
yeah pretty much any MDLP or Hi-MD player will play it back just fine.
MDane
If you only need a LP player to access a few songs, don't waste money on an expensive unit unless you plan to use it. Look for a basic Net MD for, say appx. $20. For that matter, I could likely sacrifice one of mine if you are interested.
