Uploading non-music files to computer

Hello:

I want to take the audio files which are non-musical files, from my MD recorder/players to my computer. I have installed SonicStage which will only let me transfer my musical files from computer to MD player. I want to take the information that is on my recorded mini discs and put them on my computer to use with Adobe Audition.

Does anyone have any idea how to do that? My only other option (that I am aware of) is to connect a noise canceling headphone set to the MD player and place a microphone in the best ear. I don't want to do that. I need to have the best sound transfer possible.

Thank you very much for your help.

It depends on your unit, but it sounds like you have an old MD unit, before Hi-MD.

If your files are in the formats SP, LP2 or LP4 then you could upload them via USB connection and SonicStage with the MZ-RH1 or MZ-M200, the only unit that will upload those files. No other hardware or software will do that.

Or you can do a realtime recording into your computer as explained here:

Hi there

Not sure what you mean by "Non Music" files - but if these are "Data" files you can just transfer to computer with "Windows Explorer".

A MD device in Data mode is simply a Computer external Disk drive - there are honestly loads of better mechanisms for getting data in and out of a computer these days (I use a 350 GB WD passport drive - about the size of 2 X RH1's and thinner).

These might play depending on your software you use to play these.

You won't be able to play these directly on a MD unless they are in a codec MD recognizes and that they were transferred to MD either in Real time recording, Sonic stage or Simple Burner.

If they were transferred to your MD in "Data" mode then you'll need whatever software you used to create the files presumably to play them - which means you'll only be able to play the files via a computer.

There's no problem in using ANY codec / format you like on a MD -- the only problem is that you'll have to work in DATA MODE (approx 1GB on Hi-MD discs or around 280 MB on std MD's), and you'll have to use a computer to play / transfer the files.

Cheers
