Korakios
Hello to everyone...sorry for my bad english...the story begins:It was a nice (for me!) rainy day, actually a storm, and i decided to record some thunders....but i was "out of battery" and i had to use the charger...so when a thunder stroke nearby a static noise(click) came from my headphones and the md stopped...it wasn't an AC overload(i am sure of this) just very electric atmposphere(static everywhere)...since then every time i use the charger i hear a really strong 'humm' noise but only in record mode(not at playback)...so to avoid the hamm i record only in battery ,but i also noticed that when i am touching the keys from the md (not the remote) static(clicks) and humm noise occure...also when i'm holding the md near the center...anyone electronic engineer here in the forum?i don't understand why the problem is only in record mode...thanks! Strungup
Static discharge , can reach quite a distance and it sounds like your RH1 got zapped , As a Recording engineer , I say this ...... NEVER , NEVER record storms , while plugged in to the wall , ALWAYS , ALWAYS use Batteries Try this , take a long piece of metal about the diameter of your thumb , and about 2 feet long , push it into the ground outside leaving 6 inches sticking out of the ground , attach a bare wire to that end , then also around your wrist , this makes you an "earth ground " Then with headphones on , test out the RH1 touching buttons , record mode , Play mode , everything , if the noise disappears , then what is wrong is one of the Capacitors that bleed to ground inside the RH1 's Power regulating system is fused together and has become grounded or shorted . Sony will have to fix it because these Capacitors are very very tiny .Sorry to hear this happened , but this is why we are told , to use strong filter traps and power surge protectors on Computer Gear , as well as Audio gear . The price of protection , is ALWAYS less than the price of pain.
