NW-A1000 volume control slidey thing

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I've had my NWA1000 for a week. This morning when I turned down the volume my fingernail went under the sliding part and the top half of it lifted out of the unit by about 3 millimeters.

It popped back in and is working ok but is this normal? Should it be able to pop out of the unit like that??!!

Would be interested to hear if other people's volume controls do this (but don't break them trying to find out!)

Well if it still works, why worry?

The volume button had to be stuck onto the unit somehow, it is only loigical that it can be removed with enough force or by sticking something under and prying it off.

Mine just fell off! Don't know where or when as it was nowheres to be found, two kids at my daughter's school have had the same thing happen. I always thought the volume slider was a bit on the dodgy side, very loose and wobbly. In fact that was the only fault I could find with it, once I figured out how to put music on it in the first place. Sony have said they will only repair it under guarantee if it was a fault with the product and not 'accidental damage'. I don't know how they plan on ascertaining this as I have no clue what dislodged the damn thing myself.

That's a real drag. My volume slider's still hanging on but I'm fairly sure it's popping out easier then when I first noticed the problem. No doubt Sony will find an excuse not to pay out if it does finally drop off!

mine was slightly wobbly and now cant be moved unless i push it with my finger nail.
