syncopatico
Hello Fellow MD Lovers! This is my first post to this forum. I love the MD and have owned lots of decks and portable models over the years.Anyway, i bought a Sony MZ-E10 back in 2004 which i love and still is working fine, but my question is how long generally can i expect the gumstick battery to last before i need to replace it. The original battery still charges and works fine--just preparing for the future. (I did recently buy a replacement battery--haven't installed yet--just thinking ahead!) As i said the unit still works fine, though i did notice the time between charges has gotten shorter, but this is expected i guess since it is 5 years old. Anybody with experience with length of battery life please reply!(p.s. i used to get affordable blanks at my nearby Circuit City--of course that's not possible now--hopefully blanks will still be available in the future without getting them straight from Japan?!?) Sony didn't intend for the MZ-E10 or N10 batteries to be user replaceable. The E10 manual does give instructions on how to remove the cell for ecological reasons before disposing of the unit. One would assume just reversing the steps should you want to install a replacement, but it apparently isn't that easy. Some have tried with limited success. Just do a search, I think TBR has done it. I'd like to try as well because mine is completely gone. But I would also wonder if any of the replacement cells are new enough now to make much of a difference... (I just bought a Sony NH-14WM 1400 mAh rechargable gumpack battery from Minidisco which they said can be used for the MZ-E10.) Guess i hope i don't have to try it too soon. I will do a search for TBR. (usually i'm pretty good with working with small electronics.)
syncopatico
I think you should have read this thread and the equipment browser's page on the E10 before ordering that battery...The E10's battery is a built-in Lithium-Ion and is a special order item... It is not the Nickel Metal Hybrid NH-14WM...MiniDisco has that incorrectly stated.Well, i did read the minidisc.org page on it--not that i could really make out the battery info there--i checked it to see about replacing it, etc., my fault. I have a few other Sony portables so maybe the nickel battery will work in one of those. i will search that... thanks, any other info you could provide would be most appreciated
