Michael Kalaher
I can finally retire my sony mxd-d3 md/cd home deck. I got it to transfer cds to mds without sonicstage software, The finally version of Sonicstage will let you select all the md formats..netmd and hi md, and pcm. And ALL BIT rates..important since I have a old kenwood car md player that supports only md in SP format. May you have a car or home stereo that is also md sp only. And it really bug free..no worse at least than realplayer, wmp, or itunes. I found sometimes I don't have the rights to import a music file..I found a workaround...just open your my music folder..find the files you want to import in Sonicstage..select copy. on your desktop or in my documents create a new folder...music for sonicstage. Open it..click down and select ctlr v. It will paste in the files you wanted. close file. Then open up sonicstage and select import FILE..not folder. select files you want to import. Now you've defeated windows select default or iTunes or RealPlayer russling music files.
Syrius
I hate to burst the bubble. The SP that Sonicstage provides is actually LP2 with extra bits added to pad it. It's not real SP. Sony can't use real SP because it involves paying Dolby some heavy licensing fees, as the SP codec used some of their patents already. Avrin
There is no padding in SP "downloaded" from a PC. It's even worse - SonicStage downloads ATRAC3 @ 132 kbit/s, which is then converted to SP by the unit (lossy to lossy). But the result is not padded ATRAC3, it's standard SP ATRAC, playable by anything. Edited November 5, 2009 by Avrin
Syrius
Either way it's not true, unadulterated SP. Good thing we have Hi-SP and 352.
