A WinAmp plug-in to use with your Sony Network Walkman

The plug-in can be used to:

  1. transfer mp3 from your pc to your player
  2. transfer back oma files from your player to mp3 (like gym)
  3. play tracks from the device in winamp (This is not available for all devices yet)
  4. multiple players can be plugged at the same time
Official forum is at: http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showforum=24

WARNING! Please read this section carefully!

Note: This plug-in is a beta version!

This plugin will overwrite the content of your database and probably mess it up So I advice you to backup your data so that you can test without bitching :-) If you have oma files you want to save from your device you can do it without risking to lose any data, AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT PRESS THE APPLY BUTTON! If you press the apply button your database will be overwritten, The easiest way to use this plugin is to start from a new database (not one created by Sonicstage, CONNECT player or MP3 file manager). Otherwise It might not work properly!

Now for the usual disclaimer:

I will not be held responsible for any damage this plugin may cause to your player to you your songs to your yadayadayada...

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Copy ml_sony.dll in your winamp/plugins directory
  2. plugin your device
  3. If you have a NWA1000, NAW3000 or any player that is not protected : You are done! just run winamp

If your device is not recognise or if the transfered music does not work you might try :

    1) format the device

    2) Create a new directory "OMGAUDIO"

    3) Create a file named "04CNTINF.DAT" in this directory

If you have a protected player make sure you have at least ONE of the following:

    1) MP3FM correctly installed with a MP3FM/DvId.dat file: see the official Sony page about MP3 File Manager; or

    2) the decodeKey.dat from the keywizard in the directory "GYM": see "Grab Your Music" for more info at: <a href="http://clientes.netvisao.pt/~sonygym/index.htm" target="_blank">http://clientes.netvisao.pt/~sonygym/index.htm</a>

  4. run winamp

If you want to copy your music from the player to your PC:

  1. go to your player in winamp media library
  2. select the music you want, right click->download the files will be saved in c:\
  1. go to your music library, select what you want, right click->sendto, choose your sony device.
  2. go to your device you should see the files you added with a "+" in front of them.
  3. finally click apply (bottom right corner), and the songs will be added to your walkman!; or
  4. just drag & drop some mp3/m3u/folder on the device window
  5. click apply
  • by selecting a file and pressing the delete key you can remove songs from your device. (you need to apply)

see configuration for the meaning of the symbols

WARNING! Please make a backup of your DAT files everytime you try something! That way if it doesn't work, you can always revert to your previous state.

  1. If you are wise you have made a backup of your OMGAUDIO directory just replace your current OMGAUDIO directory by the one you saved.
  2. In case you don't have a backup or want to try to rebuild yours:

-> Go to your OMGAUDIO directory and delete all files except "04CNTINF.DAT" (also keep 01TREE22.DAT and 03GINF22.DAT if you want to keep your playlist)

    -> run ml_sony

-> send one file or delete one file from the device

-> Click apply to recreate all the other database files

  3. SonicStage or CONNECT Player or MP3 File Manager databases:

If you have music on your player and it won't play or display "no songs detected" - your music database is likely corrupted by the player. As a remedy, you can try to force your player to rebuild the database by:

-> Go to your OMGAUDIO directory

-> Class your files by date. Some files "should" be wrongly dated (for ex: 2000/01/01)

-> Delete wrongly dated files (they are created by the player not by SonicStage/CONNECT Player/MP3FM)

-> Unplug your device, your player should rebuild is database

1) Database meaning :

00GTRLST - I think it's the root of the tree (never changes)

01TREE22 - Playlist index correspondance

03GINF22 - Playlist names

01TREE01 index correspondance for 03GINF0X files

02TREINF - Tree initialization? (never changes)

03GINF01 Albums list with extended tags

03GINF02 artist list

03GINF03 Album list

03GINF04 Genre list

01TREE10.DAT "on the go" playlist index correspondance for 03GINF1X files

03GINF10.DAT "on the go" playlists

04CNINF - list of all tracks with tags index in this list correspond to file index

05CIDLST - some kind of ID, I don't know how to generate this but it doesn't bother the players so... (probably that is why sonic stage doesn't work) This ID is repeated in the second idv3 tag of the oma files

You can check additional info on the file format at: http://www.waider.ie/hacks/workshop/c/mple/
