Sony MXD-D5C (5CDs and MDLP) Deck's PROBLEM

Hi all friends here,

I own Sony CD/MD Deck player : Sony MXD-D5C. Now, the CD cannot read any CD and I think it need to be changed the CD Optical pick-up. However, I can't find the repair part here in Thailand.

Base Unit Name: BU-21BD53

Optical Pick-up Name: OP Assy (A-MAX.2)

But I found the BU-30 and BU-1 as the part of CD compro here and I am not sure that this 2 parts can be used instead of BU-21BD53.

I live in Vietnam (I am french) and I have problem also when I need to repair any Md product (shops are only able to repair electronic part like a power off problem, if it is a MD portable unit problem, Sony Vietnam send to....Singapour... which repair stood 3 months only). No way to find a solution if my deck as a problem. But as it is a CD problem that you got on your deck, why any (good) CD repair shop could not change your optical lens ? Did you ask one to find a solution or did you find the BU-30 and the BU-1 alternatives as your own ?

Perhaps this australian shop can answer you or send you the BU-21BD53 spare part.

Thanks for your suggested on this. I have tried to replace both of BU-30 and BU-1 but it is not working. However, I found shop in China is available for sell but they asking for 10 pcs as minimum order. http://www.ic-electron.com/product1.asp?id=1283&ph=103

Can you advise where the shop is in Saigon. I been there 4 months ago for work and travel, I also try to find the shop who selling MD Deck but couldn't found it.

MD shops : in the center of Saigon, Huynh Thuc Khang street (Son Ha shop, number 41 and the shop next).&nbsp;<div><br><div>The best place is Nguyen Kim &amp; Nhat Tao area (P7,Q10) : hundreds of MD boomboxes (200.000 basic to 2.000.000 VND for huge one) and bookshelves (1.000.000 basic to 4.000.000 VND for separate units multiCD/multiMD... even 6MD), old MD decks (few MDLP models, few ampli-tuner-MD-CD combos, a lot &lt; year 2000), lot of electronic stuff everywhere in this area.
