box2k2
Need a little help if someone would be so kind....My father bought himself a E000 something Sony device.SS 3.4 came in the box and when installed, won't run, stuck on "initializing".I followed the advice from the forum to upgrade to SSCP.After SSCP installed, same error message (see attached).I've since uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I've cleared everything out of the registry, deleted all SONY related directories and reinstalled.I've reinstalled MDAC.inf, removed all codecs and codec packs, uninstalled all recompressing programs (VSO, Nero). I've also used CCleaner after every uninstall. Everything left installed on the machine I've also got installed on my MCE box at home and SSCP works for me.Everytime, I still get the same problem. The machine is:Asus Pundit-R3Ghz P4512 RAMWindows MCE 2005 with latest updatesMy last option is a complete reinstall, but I'm really keen to avoid if at all possible. Can anyone provide any further advice that I might have missed? Many thanks in advance
JSP62
I don't think reinstalling WINDOWS, will even resolve your problem.Tips- Run a WINDOWS update to get all current patches/fixes, then try it out again.- When was the last time your defragged?- How much space does your computer harddrive hold? Anyway:1. Done. All up to date.2. Defrag happens automatically weekly3. about 60gb free of 80gbWelcome to AtraclIfe !Do you have IE7 beta2 installed ??Restore back to IE6Thanks! Seems a friendly, active forum.- I'm not brave enough to run beta software on my parents machine. Would reinstalling IE6 make a difference?More suggestions pleeeeease
JSP62
I don't see how reinstalling IE 6 wouldn't make a difference either.Besides if your doing the weekly windows update automatically, then your IE is updated as well.Is your DirectX up to date ? What version are you running?- You seem to have a low amount of space (20GB) and I am willing to be a great deal less worth of tracks. It may well just be that SS is analizing your 80GB of info. How long have you let the SS splash stay on for? - I wonder also if MCE is the culprit. DOES ANYONE ELSE use MCE here and without problems when using SS??? DOES ANYONE ELSE use MCE here and without problems when using SS???DirectX is up to date (9c if I remember correctly).Disk space is ok, 20 gb used, 60 gb free.I've let it run for about 3 hours, with no progress. Task manager shows omjgbox using about 30-50%. I'm sure its crashed though as the SS box on screen becomes what I call "imprintable", capturing images of other windows. My own MCE box runs SSCP fine. The only difference between my box and my parents is the hardware and the users.Although at this rate my parents won't have a computer for much longer. The only thing saving it from a beating with a big stick is that I'm a couple of hundred miles away from it.
JSP62
hmmmm..... - How about a firewall? It's possible that SS is trying to pull some info online and the firewall is preventing. Long shot I know, but I cannot think of anything else at this time. - Do you have the new WMP installed? I think it was 11. If so uninstall it, then reinstall SSCP. box2k2
Looks like a reinstall is the way forward.I'm now unable to run SSCP, get some error message about OMG not installed. Can't unistall the OMG stuff cause it says the service is still running, even in safe mode.In short, I think I broke it.JSP62> You want to replace your avatar with a real video version? JSP62
JSP62> You want to replace your avatar with a real video version?Sorry to hear you were not able to resolve your issue. Thanks for the inquiry, but if the real one is the one I am thinking of then thats okay. You can tell its fake cause the keyboard isn't plugged in Plus I like the cartoon version....unless the one you have has lots of blood....bah I guess just post it. I could use a laugh Edited June 14, 2006 by JSP62
