You will probably want to test it out before you decide to buy it because one of mine (silver) has a problem with the headphone plug. It seems to be not making a good connection in there somewhere. Overall, I've recorded with the MZ-R700 and have used it to listen to music and in my opinion it seems pretty good. The main positive thing about this unit, to me, is that it takes a AA battery.
