NW-A3000 Bass Boost?

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but does a "Bass Boost" function exist for the NW-A3000\/ If it does, I can't find it anywhere!?!

I used to own the Sony "D-NE1" CD Walkman which had brilliant Bass Boost, and now that I've changed to the NW-A3000 it sounds really tinny in comparison!

it has an EQ which you can customize. It is in the manual but you access it via the options menu on the main screen, lower left hand corner. go to sound then custom 1 or 2.

I'm aware of the EQ but it doesn't make it any where near as "Bass-y" as my old D-NE1. It's still tinny.

Does this mean i am to assume there isn't a Bass Boost function?

Welcome. You should hack your unit for increased output. Search the forums for more information.

Are you referring to the volume boost hack in the pinned threads? If so, wouldn't that just boost volume and not bass?

EDIT:- Just tried hack, and bass is much bassier! Deffinitely an improvement! Not quite D-NE1's "Bass Boost" level, but it's certainly better than before! Thanks, and sorry about that! Although, do you think there will ever be a proper "Bass Boost"?

I doubt there will ever be a Bass Boost function. This would have to be added with hardware. The best thing I can suggest is to buy some quality (ear/head)phones if you haven't already. If you are using the supplied ones, that could be the reason for the drop in bass. If find if you put the player on Jazz EQ the bass is fine even with the normal earphones. Just how much bass do you want?

Hmm, I would also suggest playing around with the EQ, it provides rather lovely results and makes the songs play much more better. It all depends on the genre of music you listen to, since that will effect what you need to set the EQ to.
